Kamkamah

Areej Abu Eid - Eslam Alayan 2011 docu 6 min.

Shown at the 2012 London Palestine Film Festival as part of "The Spring of
Young Palestinian Women Filmmakers", a programme guest curated by Shashat,
the Palestinian film NGO: Kamkamah looks at cultural shifts in Gaza,
wondering if a culture of hiding has arisen, one in which masks are worn
physical, personally, and socially and where people have learned to hide
under the darkness of the sky and maybe even under the ground. The film was
produced as part of a Shashat project called "I am a Woman from Palestine"
in 2011, which used film training and exhibition to focus on specifically
Palestinian women's issues through film, aiming to engage wider sections of
the population in thought and debate.
