Red Passport (2022)

Origin: Palestine, Netherlands | Documentary | Director: Edward Knowles, Timo Bruun | 22 minutes

The film deals with the story of a Palestinian-Syrian man named Abdo Al-Asadi who decided that his first destination, after obtaining Dutch citizenship, would be to visit his mother home land , Palestine accompanied with his two oldest and youngest daughters.
He , carefully, starts thinking, after coming back from Palestine, that it makes sense for him to make a movie talking about the journey’s narrative, and ,of course, to be a narrator of the shots, and a maker of its events through the space of the new place that he never knew before but through his imagination of his political and cultural awareness, and through his previous involvement of political experience in Palestinian national activity. A dream of returning from the liberation gate, but, alas, he found only one gate when he returns, it was the gate of a foreign tourist who is hiding behind a foreign nationality he has just obtained, and through a red passport, which is why his title was: Red Passport.
His ambitions at this moment was only to see the land that he dreamed of all his life, and his main concern was for his two daughters (Yara and Salma) to realize that they had a history and roots on this land.
